Iguana Land. That's the name that I call the small park down the street where I walk my dog. In an effort to get more activity in my life and to take some of the activity out of my dog's life I have begun walking every day. I take my dog Hershey with me. Hershey is a great dog. She's a cross between a Lab and something. The girls and I got her at an auction where someone was giving puppies away.
Anyway, Hershey and I walk to the lake and park just down the street. I love to walk in the morning as the sun begins to warm things up. One of the things that the sun warms up is the local iguana population.
It is awesome to see iguanas sunning themselves in the palm trees. I am amazed when I see 4 - 5 foot long iguanas streched out on the branches of the cypress trees. I enjoy seeing the little monsters run and jump into the water. They are quite the swimmers!
I am reminded of the pet iguana that Sara had when we lived in Maryland. The critter grew to be about 2.5 feet long. She would carry it around on her arm or shoulder. I could never understand the "why" of having a pet iguana - they certainly aren't cuddly. But now seeing these iguanas in the wild, I can appreciate their beauty. They do have a certain prehistoric charm about them.
